Third SOLO SHOW “Sincerely Yours” by Anna Dart in Eurostars BCN Design 5*, 2013
Third SOLO SHOW “Sincerely Yours” by Anna Dart in Eurostars BCN Design 5*, 2013
The show on display from 10 July to 23 September, 2013.
"Sincerely Yours" by Anna Dart explores the complexities of the human experience in the 21st century—a time marked by both unprecedented connection and a paradoxical sense of distance due to the rise of social media.
Anna Dart’s work balances the simplicity of line with the powerful messages she seeks to convey, portraying a spectrum of feelings, from melancholy and sensuality to courage and loneliness.
In Anna’s own words, “Watercolor is ambiguous—perfect and imperfect. Why? It’s accidental, unresistant to doubt; the water flows and vanishes quickly, a fleeting breath never repeated, a pure emotion, an inimitable instant.”
For "Sincerely Yours," Dart has selected 13 black-and-white watercolor portraits, set in the luxurious atmosphere of the Hotel Eurostars BCN Design’s ground floor. These artworks include "Light Breathing," "Perfect Chaos," "Night and the Stars," and "L'amour non imaginaire."
The opening vernissage on July 10, 2013, features a live multidisciplinary performance by violinist Joao Silva, a poetic recital by Jaume Vaquer Sánchez, and a dance by the duo Leftovers, set to music by the British band The XX. In collaboration with Martí Serdà Wines, Bcn Last Call, and Oscar Vera from HANDMADE Barcelona Studio.

Group show at Victor Lope Gallery, 2013 with Anna Dart
Group show at Victor Lope Gallery, 2013 with Anna Dart
Exhibition on display between February 7 - April 2, 2013.
For three months, from February 7 - April 2, Victor Lope Gallery is pleased to present a selection of contemporary artists including Anna Dart and her reknown watercolour work “Fu Mar”.
Victor Lope Arte Contemporáneo is an art gallery founded in Barcelona in 2009. The gallery’s mission is to launch and consolidate the careers of emerging and mid-career artists in the European and international art market. Located in the gallery area of Barcelona, Victor Lope Arte Contemporaneo has two exhibition halls with a total of 130 meters. The Gallery organizes between 8 and 10 exhibitions a year. The gallery also participates in several international fairs and in the Barcelona Gallery Weekend. Victor Lope Gallery is also a member of the Art Barcelona gallery association and the Consortium of Contemporary Art Galleries.
"Fu Mar" by Anna Dart is groundbreaking on many levels.
It captures the intimacy of a couple lost in their own world. The young man, smoking, appears at ease and in a state of pure relaxation, while the woman’s torso is barely visible. The title, separated into two parts—"Fu" and "Mar"—has a double meaning. "Mar," meaning "sea" in Spanish, emphasizes the sensation of drifting on water and being in love. "Fu Mar" also serves as a wordplay on "fumar," the Spanish verb for "to smoke," adding an extra layer of meaning that suggests not only the physical act of smoking but also the intimate sharing of a moment between two people.
The use of grey as a dominant color adds layers of visual richness. Anna Dart employs a monochromatic palette to evoke the look of a faded photograph, capturing the feeling of a cherished memory. Dart applied her unique technique in layering watercolor: she first masked certain parts of the painting with tape, applied the initial layer, then removed the tape to reveal and build subsequent layers. She aimed to mirror the layered yet distanced nature of modern communication, much like the advent of social media. During its creation, Dart nearly discarded the painting by washing it away, yet she persisted.
Dart's combination of skill and conviction has made "Fu Mar" an iconic and memorable piece. When it went viral on social media in 2012, it became her most celebrated work.

Spanish Festival of Female Art with Anna Dart, 2013
Spanish Festival of Female Art with Anna Dart, 2013
Exhibition on display between 22 March - 12 April, 2013.
The second edition of the Festival Miradas de Mujeres, a Spanish national event dedicated to celebrating the work of women in the visual arts, took place throughout March 2013.
Organized by MAV (the Association of Women in the Visual Arts), the festival spanned 13 autonomous communities across Spain. Madrid led the participation, followed by Andalucía, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, the Basque Country, and Castilla y León, along with additional contributions from Castilla-La Mancha, Aragón, Valencia, Galicia, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, and Navarra.
With over 800 artists represented, the festival featured a diverse array of exhibitions, talks, and conferences across more than 195 cultural institutions, museums, and galleries nationwide. The event highlighted women as creative leaders in the arts, marking a significant step towards closing gender gaps in society.
Anna Dart was honored to be an esteemed guest at the festival, showcasing her work with Aragó 232 Gallery in Barcelona. Four out of the five artworks she exhibited sold out before the vernissage, a remarkable success.
These works were commissioned to depict iconic contemporary models in Anna Dart's signature black-and-white watercolors and were featured in Lash Magazine Paris. The portraits offered a powerful, authentic glimpse into the modern fashion industry, often seen as soulless, yet Dart’s work revealed its deeper, more human aspects.
The portraits were met with great appreciation, and Dart was subsequently invited by the gallery to exhibit in Macau, alongside the artworks of Picasso and Tàpies, in an exhibition called "The Colors of Spain". In this show, she sold two additional pieces.
Location: Carrer d'Aragó, 232, L'Eixample, 08007 Barcelona, Spain

SECOND SOLO SHOW “El Silencio” by Anna Dart in Hartmann Gallery, 2013
SECOND SOLO SHOW “El Silencio” by Anna Dart in Hartmann Gallery, 2013
The show on display between 21 March - 8 April, 2013.
The world is experiencing a new era with the rise of social media and internet communication. Anna Dart, as an artist, understood the impact that this new form of technology would have on society and how it would shape our relationships and interactions with one another. She was worried that the reliance on technology would lead to a distance between individuals and a loss of empathy, making people less human.
This concern inspired Anna to create her exhibition “El Silencio” which reflects on the power of communication and how it can be achieved with just one color, black, and the power of silence. Through her work, Anna explores the concept of digital humanism, examining the intersection of technology and human values, and the importance of genuine human connections in a digital world.
In a world where we are constantly bombarded with noise and stimuli, "El Silencio" serves as a reminder of the beauty and power that can be found in stillness and authentic human connection. Through her use of black watercolor and emotive portraits, Anna invites us to look inward and reflect on the things that truly matter in our lives.
The exhibition “El Silencio” celebrates a huge success as multiple pieces by Anna Dart are sold, further emphasizing the impact of artist's message on the audience.

FIRST SOLO SHOW “Watercolours we are” by Anna Dart at aDa Gallery, 2012
FIRST SOLO SHOW “Watercolours we are” by Anna Dart at aDa Gallery, 2012
The show on display from 19 to 30 September, 2012.
In 2012, the world is facing the rise of social media and internet communication, a relatively new phenomenon for our time. Anna Dart, through her art, highlights the impact of this digital revolution on our emotions and relationships.
With the title "Watercolours we are", she explores the complexities of the human condition in the 21st century, a time where people are becoming increasingly detached from one another. Her works feature a range of emotions, from seduction to melancholy, from sensuality to loneliness, and from turbulence to stillness.
The title "Watercolours we are" references the fluid and delicate nature of watercolors, as well as the complexity and emotional depth that can be captured in the medium. The artist is drawing a parallel between the way watercolors can express the nuanced emotions and experiences of the human condition and the inherent fluidity and vulnerability of being human. The title also reflects the idea that humans, like watercolors, are complex, ever-changing, and capable of blending and merging in new and unexpected ways.
Anna's first solo show is a defining moment in her career as an artist. Hosted by aDa Art Gallery from 19 to 30 September, 2012, the show brings together a multidisciplinary performance featuring a dancer, musician, poet, pianist, and even a cocktail master, making it a truly immersive experience for the audience.
With over 60 artworks displayed on two floors, the show is a resounding success, with a few paintings sold and several larger galleries showing interest in Anna's work. The show marks the debut of some of her most iconic watercolours, including "Fu Mar", "Perfect chaos", "Absorbing", and "One day after rain".
The inaugural vernissage takes place on September 19, 2012 at 19:30 and features the performance of the dancer Moises Rojo Ortega, the guitarist Aleix Bove, the poet Julio Higueras, and pianist Jordi Ar Quaxime. In collaboration with Port de DRAGONS Gin-Tonics.
